Westfall Family

The Westfalls wanted a family photo taken as a gift to their grandmother who is celebrating her 80th birthday next month. A very nice gift idea - especially for grandparents. We were going to do the shot outside in front of their ocean view in Bandon, but due to weather, we decided to do it inside:)

Name Change

So as I get my ducks in a row with my business, I've realized that not having my WHOLE name in my company name means that I need to register it - duhhh!! So instead of spending my money and time doing that every year - decided it would be a lot simpler to just change my business name - hee hee!!! I'm so sneaky - LOL!
So my photography business is now officially called Anna Aasen Photography. I've pondered changing my domain name as well - but for now it will stay the same - aasenavenues.com

Studio test

I went to a 6 hour private workshop with Steve Anchell at the beginning of the month. Learned a lot and am starting to experiment with a simple studio setup to use on location for babies especially. Just got my background yesterday and was playing with it in the living room with Arlie. She wasn't that into it so we only "played" for a few minutes and I was just using on camera flash - I think it is going to work out well though - can't wait to set up my umbrellas and practice with some REAL light. Which reminds me that I will be going to another seminar at the end of February called Captivated by the Light - I'm excited to see what that's all about!

Tillamook Wrestling Invitational

Ventured into the world of sports photography yesterday. Thought it would be fun to take some pictures of some mook wrestlers in action. Pretty sure this was their last home tournament. Congrats on a great year! Here are a few of my favorites:

Drive

Went for a drive in the hills with the fam to see a little snow - "little" is the key word - but still just makes everything beautiful.

Sarah, Jason and Daniel

Finally got the chance to meet little Daniel. So cute and the perfect playmate for my Arlie. Had fun playing with some pictures with my good friend Sarah who moved across the country to Cleveland. Barely ever get to see her anymore - but we always have fun making up for lost time!!! I love this window light - my favorite light by far!!! Especially for sweet pictures of a mama with her baby.

Robison Family Portraits

Congratualtions guys on picking great outfits for your portraits. Coordinating is key to a nice group shot and the black is not only slimming, it draws attention to the faces and adds a formal flair to an otherwise casual setting. I really like the way they turned out - thanks for a fun outing to Laverne Park!

I love catching these intimate moments!

Gaby & Tania

These girls called me today for senior photos for their yearbook. Since photos are due on the 30th and I'm getting ready to leave town for Thanksgiving, it was either today, tomorrow or nothing!!! :) We were able to sneak some shots in between rain showers (a total of about 5 minutes- literally) and came out with a couple good ones! Some times all you need is one good shot. If this is your situation - I am willing to do a short session for that one special image - for $25 and have a disc for you the next day. Give me a call! Thanks girls - hope your senior year is fantastic!!!!!!

Cheryl & Family

Cheryl and her family brought the nice weather with them to Rockaway this last weekend. It was simply gorgeous out. It called for rain all week - but we somehow ended up with brilliant sunshine. Of course today the weather is back with up to 70 mph gusts. It's nice to be cooped up inside though too - lucky for them - they get a storm with a view from their rental house on the beach:) Family photos are so fun to do - especially on the beach - I love it! Thanks guys!

Changing Seasons

Went out for a drive yesterday to take advantage of the last trace of sun as we head into our rainy winter. The weather was actually changing before my eyes too. These were some photos I've been meaning to take - everytime I drive by these beautiful scenes I want to stop, but of course I never do because I'm on my way to somewhere. But yesterday, this was my destination. I need to start stopping even when I am gong somewhere - it really is important to "stop and smell the roses" and it seems I do it less and less. That will be one of my new year's resolutions. Played with these photos in photoshop for some different effects. I love photoshop - the possibilities are limited only to your imagination, especially with landscape photography - which I might note - I don't do much of.

Our House :)

Well, needlsess to say, our house has been, and continues to be a project. The first photo was taken in May and the other this morning. Although we really miss the handicap ramp;) - we are pretty happy with the result! New paint, windows, porch, roof, and landscaping. It's not exactly the best time of year to showcase the landscaping - but I will post more in spring to show off our pretty flowers. We are getting ready to paint the deck and railing - hopefully I can post more pics of our finished porch in a week or so - but don't hold your breath!! :) We should be on one of those HGTV shows - am I right???? Well maybe not, but we are still pretty proud of our accomplishment!

Callie - Senior Portraits

Callie wanted to be photographed with her horse Jackie - this was such fun! Adds a whole new dynamic and resulted in some very unique images that I really liked. This first one is one of my favorites of her with her horse. Have fun this year Callie!
